The Isoplam Type A Construction Joint is a pre-assembled permanent construction joint and containment formwork, designed to ensure high performance in concrete flooring. Its main function is to transfer loads from one section of the flooring to another, while also ensuring the absorption of thermal and hygrometric movements of the screed (UNI 11146:2005 – point 3.3.3). This significantly reduces the risk of cracking, ensuring flatness and durability over time.
Thanks to its easy and fast installation, the joint is widely used in indoor and outdoor industrial flooring, where it limits the vertical or rotational movements responsible for edge spalling and deterioration of concrete slabs caused by vehicle traffic and heavy loads. The joint consists of two Fe360 iron plates, 3 mm thick and 3 m long, bent into an “L” shape and joined in a staggered configuration using M6 plastic screws and nuts. Fe430 iron load-transfer dowel bars are inserted perpendicularly inside them, with a diameter varying according to the height of the joint.
The dowel bars slide inside plastic sleeves with caps, allowing the natural movement of the concrete slabs. Ribbed B450 steel anchors, 8 mm in diameter, are welded beneath the dowel bars, ensuring secure anchorage to the concrete and high performance, thereby providing the flooring with a longer service life.
